Hello to anyone who's stumbled across this lj or hopped on the link from the BSB website.

A few years ago, I asked my better half what she wanted for Christmas. Her answer? "Write me a story."

I'd always loved writing, but working twelve hour shifts that switch between nights and days with barely enough time to blink in between and a general tendency towards laziness had made me fall out of the habit. However, not wanting to back out of a challenge, I bought a new pad of paper (I'm old-school like that) and a few Bic biros, and sat down to start scribbling.

That was about four years ago. My partner finally got her Christmas present three years late, but the "story" ran to 72,000 words and we both liked it enough to think about sending it to a publisher. Summoning up the nerve to do that accounted for the extra year. At the end of December, I got an email from BSB with an offer of publication, swiftly followed by a contract, and life has been a bit of a whirlwind ever since!

I heard this morning that Snowbound has been given a publication date of 13th December 2011 and then realised I'd sneaked onto the BSB authors page, which gave me the kick up the pants necessary to start this blog (I've been a little nervous.) I hope to have a picture of the cover up as soon as I can, but for now I'll leave you with this thought: you're stuck out here in the middle of a snowstorm, with someone who's seriously injured and relying on you to save her...
