And it's an interview where you can actually hear me talk and everything :-)

The lovely ladies over at The Cocktail Hour had a chat with me last night and the podcast is already up for download or just listening along to, at this link. We spoke quite a bit about Snowbound, fan fic, Desolation Point, whether I would lose "Butch Points" for crying over a bee sting, and why I continue to write terrible weather into my stories when it seems to influence what our actual weather will be like. It was a lot of fun and I owe hosts Cheri and Megan a big ol' thanks for inviting me along.

Enjoy :-)

The annual Bold Strokes UK Author Fest is taking place this weekend (August 4th & 5th, 2012). Last year's event was a lot of fun and hopefully this one will be even better. Any tempted parties can find all the details here.

The attending UK (and one US!) authors have been blogging throughout this week. The main link to all the blogs can be found here.

Enjoy! And if you do end up coming along, make sure you say hi :-)

I found out this week that Bold Strokes Books have picked up my second novel for publication sometime in Spring, 2013 :-)

Tentatively titled Desolation Point (hopefully it'll stay as that, the title's grown on me!) the novel is set in the USA this time around and features two women - Alex and Sarah - getting into a whole load of trouble in the North Cascades. With a British/American pairing, bad guys running rampant, a storm closing in, and plenty of Kendal Mint Cake, this one was a hell of a lot of fun to write.

As soon as I have a concrete publication date, I'll let you know.

Looking down on Ross Lake from Desolation Peak, which is pretty much where Sarah is when everything starts to go horribly wrong...

I found out this week that Snowbound has been awarded an Alice B Lavender Certificate for debut novel \o/

The Alice B awards are decided by a committee of largely anonymous, avid readers of lesbian lit. The committee present an Alice B lifetime achievement medal to writers with a distinguished body of work, and the Lavender certificates to newbies like myself :-) More info about the awards and the 2012 winners here. A big thank you to the committee for their support and congrats to all this year's recipients.

Snowbound has sneaked out on wide release a little earlier than I was expecting so it will hopefully be ready to squeeze into Christmas stockings! I wish you all a good couple of cosy winter nights curled up in front of a roaring fire with your copy :-)

Bold Strokes Books have released it as a trade paperback or an e book. They also have the first ten or so pages up as a preview so you can all see what you're letting yourselves in for... :-)

Just a quick thanks to everyone who's shown their support on here and made me laugh over the past year while all this has been going on. I really hope you like the book!

Bold Strokes Books have just published their November newsletter which includes a tiny extract from Snowbound and the start of an interview with... um, well, me. Go here for the newsletter itself and anyone interested in the full text of the interview can find it here

Don't mind me, I'll be sitting over here, eating treacle toffee, parkin and toffee apples! God, I love Bonfire Night... :-)

It was only when editing Snowbound that I came to realise exactly how much food was in the damn thing. I can honestly say that the novel was not sponsored by Delicious Treats of England, but you can be forgiven for suspecting as much! I was all set to compile a list of Britishisms but I think most people are aware by now that we have mobile phones over here as opposed to cell phones and you know what they say about typing while you’re hungry...

So here’s a brief rundown of some nice local cuisine.**

Anyone curious as to whether or not I keeled over in a fit of nerves and made a right idiot of myself in Nottingham, my first ever BSB blog post telling all about the event, is here :-)

For any Brits who might have accidentally tripped over this site, the 2nd Annual Bold Strokes Author fandango is being held this weekend at the Waterstones bookshop in Nottingham.

The event will kick off at 3pm on the Saturday with a panel on romance/erotica (if you spot the Northerner stumbling over her words, that'll be me!) followed by a panel entitled Worlds We Want to Explore and a general Q&A. After that it's off to the Lord Roberts gay pub for a Meet & Mingle.

Sunday morning (11.30am-1pm) will see a
Publishing and Sneak Peeks panel where the publishing process will be discussed and authors will be reading from upcoming works. This panel is sponsored by Starbucks who will be providing coffee and nibbles! Lunch after that will be at the New Foresters lesbian pub.

The authors attending the event are Jane Fletcher, Rebecca S. Buck, Justine Saracen, Gill McKnight, Stacia Seaman, Lesley Davis, I Beacham and me ;-)

As far as I know, just tip up if you're in the neighbourhood. Books will be on sale throughout the weekend (not mine of course, but I do have some lovely, shiny bookmarks!) and the authors will be on hand to sign them.

There's a slightly more detailed schedule here

And now if you'll excuse me I have cats that I need to go and read to ;-)

Okay, I already have nervous little butterflies about this!

The 2nd Annual Bold Strokes Author Bash (which I hope will not involve any opportunities to actually thump authors *g*) will be held at the Waterstones bookshop in Nottingham on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July, 2011. The event will include author panels and an author "meet and greet" on the Saturday afternoon and a breakfast "publishing (how it all works) panel" on the Sunday. The themes of the panels are still a little tentative at the moment but as far as I know I will be reading from Snowbound for the very first time. The first of these events was held last year and apparently a very good time was had by all. More details as I get them...
